Dr. Rachel Levitan, from Tulane University, was awarded the Dr. Alexandra Greene Award, recognizing a student with dedication to their colleagues and patients, as well as to EM, and who demonstrates compassion and professionalism even when faced with difficult situations and stresses. Rachel earned this award based on her response to Hurricaine Katrina, her research endevors, community outreach, and her impressive dedication to her fellow medical students during her rotation at Maricopa. We are lucky to have recruited Dr. Levitan into the Maricopa EM class of 2012!
Brian Geyer, from the University of Arizona, was awarded two EMRA grants this year (the only student so honored). Brian received the Local Action Grant, which promotes the involvement of emergency medicine residents in community service and other activities that support the specialty of emergency medicine. He also received one of two EMRA Travel Grants to be a representative at the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine annual meeting in New Orleans in May.
