Hutchinson’s Sign

Hutchinson’s sign is a herpetic lesion on the tip of the nose associated with herpes zoster ophthalmicus (HZO). HZO occurs with reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus in the ophthalmic division of the trigeminal nerve. Those with Hutchinson’s sign have an increased risk of ocular involvement and warrant a complete eye exam.
