Maricopa Medical Center - Emergency Medical Services/Resuscitation Science Fellowship

The MMC EMS Fellowship is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to prehospital medicine and medical direction including all facets of prehospital care. The EMS/RS Fellow will be exposed to a broad array of prehospital medicine and resuscitation research and implementation from the national to local level, interacting with EMS agencies throughout Arizona from including Fire Based EMS Service, private EMS, volunteer EMS, fixed and rotary wing services, rural, urban, wilderness, tactical and federal disaster medicine. The Fellow will participate in cutting edge prehospital research at Maricopa Medical Center, the Arizona Department of Health Services, and University of Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center and the Sarver Heart Center. The Fellow will also participate in on-going NIH funded traumatic brain injury research and will serve as a member of the AHA Basic Life Support Subcommittee. The Fellow will attend the annual meeting of the National Association of Emergency Medical Services Physicians (NAEMSP) and will attend the NAEMSP Medical Directors course. The fellowship will provide the opportunity to attend conferences and courses tailored to the Fellow’s interest, such as American Heart Association Resuscitation Science Symposium, ACEP, SAEM, International School of Tactical Medicine, Advanced HAZMAT Life Support, Association of Air Medical Services, and others.

Clinical time will be limited and primarily with Emergency Physician Professional Association staffed hospitals, but may also include shifts supervising residents as an attending physician at Maricopa Medical Center depending on staffing levels. Additionally, the Fellow will participate with the Maricopa EM Residency Program by providing educational talks to the faculty and residents.

Program Director: Ben Bobrow, MD, is an alumnus of the Maricopa EM Residency Program. Dr. Bobrow is the Medical Director of the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, Arizona Department of Health Services.

Assistant Program Director: Dr. Thomas Kelly, MD is an alumnus of the Maricopa EM Residency Program and is Assistant Program Director of the EM Residency.
