Valleywise Health - Mayo Administrative Fellowship


GOALS:
  1. Gain the skills needed to serve in a leadership capacity within a community or academic emergency department and hospital system
  2. Develop expertise in ED operations and management, with a particular emphasis on improving ED flow through and out of the department.
  3. Learn the principles of quality improvement and work with teams within the institution to develop and implement quality and patient safety project.
  4. Obtain basic financial management and billing/coding skills.
  5. Publish and present nationally at least one scholarly project in a field of interest to the fellow.

CURRICULUM: 
The Administrative Fellowship encompasses a twelve month curriculum with a particular emphasis on operations.  Each month will include elements of ED operations, quality improvement and patient safety, finances, risk management and leadership.  The fellow will participate in educational aspects, research and clinical work throughout all twelve months.  Each month will have a focus on a particular aspect of emergency department management, with four months devoted to operations, three months to quality improvement/patient safety, two months to finance and billing and coding, two months to risk management, and one month to departmental leadership.
