DrsChea, Carter Powell and McElhinny were grateful to accept a grant from Arizona ACEP (AzCEP) for their work on the first hospital-based Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution in the state of Arizona. AzCEPrecognizes projects with their Emergency Medicine Resident Research Seed Grant winners in an effort to support new and innovative approaches in resident research. The grant will go to support the important work of addressing opioid overdose as a rising cause of mortality and morbidity in the Maricopa Adult Emergency Department population as well as serve as an important touch point for those likely to benefit most from take-home naloxone distribution and overdose education.
Last Wednesday our residency visited our state capital. We had a fantastic time visiting with our representatives; discussing essential policies that affect both us as physicians as well as our patients.
