Maricopa Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Program
Welcome to the Maricopa Emergency Medicine Ultrasound program!
Here at the ‘Copa, our residents and faculty are committed to the integration of point-of-care ultrasound into current practices and patient care. Our residents and medical students are taught how to perform basic and advanced point-of-care ultrasound examinations to aid in the diagnosis and management of acutely ill and injured patients.
The structured ultrasound curriculum provides our residents with the requisite knowledge and skills to master each of the emergency ultrasound applications endorsed by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM). Graduates of our program are prepared to perform, interpret, and integrate point-of-care ultrasound into their clinical practice.
The ultrasound program at Maricopa Medical Center also currently sponsors an Adult Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship. Fellowes receive training with advanced point-of-care ultrasound examinations and are provided the skills and experience necessary to manage an emergency ultrasound program. Graduates will be recognized leaders in emergency ultrasound and education for many years to come.
As part of our program, our Emergency Medicine residents and students are provided with:
Carl Mitchell, MD

Jeff Stowell, MD
